Dead patches? You may have grubs beneath the surface. At Green Castle Lawn Care and Pest Control, we’ve spent over 25 years helping Utah homeowners identify and treat grub infestations quickly and effectively. We use some of the best grub control for lawns with treatments tailored to Utah soil and climate. ## What Are Grubs and Why Do Utah Lawns Get Them? Grubs are the larval stage of beetles, and this is when they’re most destructive. They live just under the surface of your lawn, feeding on grass roots until patches of your yard turn brown, thin out, and die. Many Utah lawns—especially those with Kentucky Bluegrass or that face south or west—are more likely to develop grub problems due to soil warmth and moisture levels. If your lawn isn’t consistently fertilized, watered, and maintained, beetles may choose it as the perfect place to lay eggs. > **Pro Tip:** If you can lift turf like a carpet or see animals digging, grubs are likely present. ![Beetle grubs beneath lawn feeding on grassroots](https://www.greencastlelawncare.com/wp-content/uploads/grubs-feeding-grass-roots.png) ![Lawn care expert applying grub prevention treatment](https://www.greencastlelawncare.com/wp-content/uploads/grub-prevention-treatment-utah.png) ## Prevent Grub Damage Before It Starts The best time to stop a grub problem is before it begins. They’ve consistently kept my lawn looking like the best one on the block. I started using them due to my physical limitations of not being able to do my own yard work and I think the results are almost as satisfying as if i had done it myself. Their fertilization program is fantastic—my grass stays thick and green even through hottest part of the sweltering heat. They were also to get rid of that nasty crab grass type that was overrunning my lawn too!. When I was able, I took pride in my lawn being perfect and I'm super picky. This is why I appreciate their precise lawn edging. Sharp clear lines along the driveway and sidewalks! Over the years, the workers have always been friendly and professional. They always show up when they say they will, and they treat my property with respect. Their billing services have also never done me wrong. If there's are issues, they fix it right and quick. Give Green Castle a call, Im glad I did and I give them two "green" thumbs up. ![google](https://www.greencastlelawncare.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-social-reviews/assets/images/icon/icon-google-small.png) [Trina Halverson](https://search.google.com/local/reviews?placeid=ChIJM0SYbBsLU4cRG4Nw1ga--3o) December 19, 2025 Great team & great service! Dozens. Hundreds. I was vacuuming them up numerous times per day throughout the summer. The next year, I called Green Castle for exterior bug spraying. Instead of dozens per day, I might get a dozen per year now. The number of bugs that get into the house is down well over 99%, and the yard has fewer insects like wasps. I tried spraying the exterior myself, but Green Castle comes with much more powerful equipment that reaches higher on the house than I can. For the last two years, their bug spraying is probably the best money I've spent for peace of mind. ![google](https://www.greencastlelawncare.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-social-reviews/assets/images/icon/icon-google-small.png) [Victoria Zippi](https://search.google.com/local/reviews?placeid=ChIJM0SYbBsLU4cRG4Nw1ga--3o) December 18, 2025 I decided to give this company a call after falling behind on yard work, and I’m glad I did. My lawn looks neat, well-maintained, and honestly better than I expected. It’s hard to find a service that’s both dependable and reasonably priced, but this one checks all the boxes. I appreciate the consistency and professionalism, and I won’t hesitate to use them again in the future. ![google](https://www.greencastlelawncare.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-social-reviews/assets/images/icon/icon-google-small.png) [Preston](https://search.google.com/local/reviews?placeid=ChIJM0SYbBsLU4cRG4Nw1ga--3o) December 18, 2025 I couldn’t be happier with this lawn and pest company. He definitely knows his stuff, he comes out on properties and discusses what's going on and how to fix it and shows results. ## **Frequently Asked Questions About Grub Control Services** #### [How do I know if I have a grub problem?]() Common signs include irregular brown patches of dead grass that you can pull back like a carpet, an increase in animals like birds or raccoons digging in your yard, and a spongy feel to your lawn. #### [When should I apply grub control in Utah?]() Preventative treatments are most effective from May through early July. Curative treatments are available through early fall if needed. This is the best time to apply grub control before extensive damage occurs. #### [Are the treatments safe for kids and pets?]() Yes. Once dry, our grub treatments are completely safe for your family and pets. #### [How long does it take for grub treatment to work?]() Results typically show within 7–10 days. You’ll see your lawn begin to green up and rebound with regular watering and care. Treatments can start working within 24 hours, but it may take up to a week to see a significant reduction in grub activity. The lawn itself will need time and proper care to recover from the damage. #### [Can you prevent grubs from coming back?]() Absolutely. Preventative treatments combined with healthy lawn maintenance (fertilizing, watering, aeration) dramatically reduce risk of future infestations. Ask us about bundling [grub and insect control](https://www.greencastlelawncare.com/lawn-care-services-ogden-utah/insect-control/) into your lawn care plan. #### [When is the best time to apply grub control in Utah?]() The most effective time for preventative grub control in Northern Utah is in late spring to early summer (May-June). This targets the pests before they hatch and start feeding on your lawn's roots. Curative treatments are best applied in late summer or early fall when grubs are active. #### [What is the most effective treatment for lawn grubs?]() Professional-grade treatments that are timed correctly are the most effective. Preventative treatments stop grubs before they can cause damage, while curative treatments eliminate active infestations. A professional can identify the specific type of grub and apply the best product for the situation. #### [Will grub control also kill beneficial insects in my garden?]() Our professional treatments are specifically targeted at turf-damaging pests like grubs. We apply them carefully to your lawn areas to minimize impact on beneficial insects like bees and pollinators in your garden beds. #### [Can I apply grub control myself, or should I hire a professional?]() While DIY products are available, a professional service ensures the correct product is used at the most effective time. Professionals have access to more effective treatments and can accurately diagnose the extent of the problem, saving you time and money. #### [How much does professional grub control cost?]() The cost depends on the size of your lawn and whether you need a preventative or curative treatment. We provide free, no-obligation estimates to give you a clear and affordable price for protecting your lawn. #### [What happens if I don't treat a grub infestation?]() An untreated grub infestation can destroy large sections of your lawn by eating the grassroots. This leads to widespread dead patches that will not recover on their own and will require expensive reseeding or re-sodding. #### [Is preventative grub control better than curative treatment?]() Yes. A preventative approach is more effective and cost-efficient. It stops grubs before they can damage your lawn's root system, saving you from costly and time-consuming turf repairs later on. ## Why Choose Green Castle for Lawn Grub Control Services in Ogden, Utah and the Surrounding Areas? - 25 years of experience with Utah lawns - Locally owned and operated in [Weber County](https://www.greencastlelawncare.com/lawn-care-service-in-ogden/) - 100% satisfaction guarantee on all grub control services - Licensed, insured, and trusted throughout Northern Utah We know Utah lawns—and we know how to keep them grub-free. ## Grub Control Services Throughout Northern Utah Green Castle Lawn Care and Pest Control provides professional grub control services for homeowners across Northern Utah.
